As part of our ongoing nature commitments, whilst we wish to protect the birds and wildlife we have on our Estate, we also have a legal obligation to do so. This means that we are unable to cut back hedges, trees or reeds during the bird breeding season which runs from 1st March to the end of August. However, we are now currently permitted to undertake this work as per our Landscape and Ecological Plan for this winter season until 28th February 2023.
Our wonderful Grounds team is currently doing the works and hopefully everyone will start noticing the changes around the Estate, but please be patient as they have a large workload to get through over the coming months.
We operate under the following works cycle and all works are in line with the Ecology Plan.
- Hedge cutting
- Final village grass-cutting
- Hedge laying
- Border pruning
- Reeds and waterway management
- Tree work and wood chipping – to which we will re-use the tree mulch on the borders and beds to suppress weeds
- Hedge and replacement tree planting.
We hope to see most of you returning to the Estate during the October half-term, in the meantime, if you need anything from us, please feel free to get in touch with us via the normal contact details.
